Federal antitrust authorities stepped up their antitrust attack on
Facebook on Thursday, saying in a revised complaint that the social
media behemoth had a laser-focused plan to "purchase or bury" competitors in order to stifle competition.
It was the Federal government's second attempt after a federal court
rejected antitrust cases filed by the agency and a large coalition of state attorneys general against Facebook in June, amid increasing efforts by federal and state regulators to limit the tech giants' market dominance.
The latest complaint lays out a thorough history of Facebook's
behavior, notably with the introduction of mobile devices such as smartphones in the 2010s, as well as the development of creative Facebook competitors.
