What is a tragedy in literature ?

Tragedy, branch of drama that treats in a serious and dignified style the sorrowful or terrible events
encountered or caused by a heroic individual. By extension the term may be applied to other literary
works, such as the novel.

What is considered as a Tragedy ?

A tragedy is an event of great loss, usually of human life. Such an event is said to be tragic. Traditionally,
the event would require "some element of moral failure, some flaw in character, or some extraordinary
combination of elements" to be tragic. Not every death is considered a tragedy.
