Front Panel

CO We recommend using this unit through the F/X loop of your amp to help reduce tape noise.
2. Attenuator (-50db/-10db)
This switch adjusts the input level. The I0db setting is for sources with higher output or line level output

Connect the included power adapter to this jack.
2. Tape Run (Auto/ Manual)
(When switching between Auto and Manual turn the unit off first.)
This switch controls the tape run function.
In the Auto position the tape stops running if there is no input signal, eliminating tape hiss noise. When the

4, Pedal Input
This is the input jack for an expression pedal (not included). When the expression pedal is connected to
this jack it will control delay times like the Time control on the front panel of this unit, When the expression
pedal is connected to this input the Time control on the front panel is bypassed. Use an expression pedal
with a resistance value of 10K ohms.
5. Echo Cancel Footswitch
This is the input jack for an on/off pedal that will bypass the unit. To use this
switch with a 1/4 inch tip is necessary (footswitch is not included with the unit),

- Set the Direct Mix switch on the back panel of the Tape Echo to the off position,

‘Short Echo:
The most common setting.
1- Set"Mode" switch to "1" at the front panel
Get each "Echo" "Repeat" and"T —_ ime" to between 9 and 12 o'clock
2- The volume of echo is controlled by "Echo" knob
3- Repeat times are controlled by "Repeat’
4- Echo time is set by "Time" knob.

Long Echo:
This is. a setting for repeating phrases 1/2 to 1 bar.
1- Set "Mode" to "2"
2- Set "Echo" for between 9 and 12 o'clock.

‘The HIWATT Custom Tape Echo controls the delay time by varying the tape feed speed
record/playback head When the rotation of the tape speed is slow (Longer delay time), the recordable
amount of the tape decreases so that the sound quality of the echo is lower. This is similar to EP/SP
(Extended Play/ Standard Play) modes of VCR's.

Controlling the Delay Time by Expression Pedal:
By operating through a low impedance expression pedal (with 10k potentiometer) connected to the
Pedal Input jack in the rear panel, you can foot-control the Time knob operation so that you can
change the delay time and get special echo effects.
When the expression pedal is connected, the Time knob operation on the front panel is disengaged.
Echo Cancel Mode / Loop Recording
Echo Cancel Mode (Rec./Play)
By connecting a latched footswitch to the Echo Cancel Foot Switch jack on the rear panel, you can remote
control this unit. In the "Play" mode, you can turn on/off the echo sound. In the "Ree." mode, you can
loop-record by turning on/off the recordidelete head.

‘The HIWATT Custom Tape Echo includes a rack mounting ears for 19" racks.
Check the ears left/right direction before attaching to the rack.
*Do not place objects on top of the HIWATT Custom Tape Echo.
