JIS B O123 a9) Designation of Screw Threads 1, Scope This Japanese Industrial Stardard provides the designation of screw threads (letter presentation, nominal designation, marking, ete.) to be used for drawings, specifications, books and slips, products, ete. 2. Designation of Screw Threads The designation of the screw threads shall be composed of the nominal designation, grade, hand and number of start of screw thread In the order given below in obedience with the provisions of 3. Presentation of Nominal Desi; Gr: and Number rt Screw Thread 3.1 Nominal Designation of Screw Thread The nominal designation of screw thread, shall be composed of @ symbol indicating the type of thread, numeral indicating thread diameter (1), and pitch or number of threads per 25.4 mm, hereinafter referred to as the "number of threads", as described below. Note (1) For a screw thread of which diameter is specified according to a simple number of millimeter, this corresponds to a nominal dia~ meter. (7) The presentation of grades for these combinations shall conform to ais B 0217. (8) The presentation of grades for these combinations shall be made as grade of internal thread/grade of external thread in accordance with aS B 0215. 3.3 Hand of Screw Thread The hand of a screw thread shall be presented by a letter "left" for the left-hand thread, and by no letter for the right-hand thread. In place of the letter “left", the letter "L'" may be used. 3.4 Number of Start of Screw Thread The number of screw thret be presented as “double-start", "triple-start™ and so forth for multiple start thread, and for the single start thread, no notation shall be used.
