Past Simple: Actions or situations which started and finished in the past. e.g. I cooked fish last week.
Past routines and habits
e.g. . James went out for dinner every Saturday evening when he was younger. Actions which happened one after the other in the past. e.g. Natalie went to the shops, bought a pizza and took it home. Past Continuous : An action that was in progress at a specific time in the past e.g. I was making coffee at seven o’clock this morning. Two or more actions that were in progress at the same time in the past e.g. Jennifer was watching TV while her mum was cooking dinner. An action that was in progress in the past but was interrupted by another action e.g. Dad was chopping onions when the police rang. To give background information in a story e.g. It was raining, the wind was blowing and we were shaking from the cold. Be careful!!!
