Activity 2

A. Not decayed –Plastics, metal , aluminum. Partially decayed-food waste, plants

B. Decay- they are biodegradable materials Do not decay- They are non-biodegradable materials

C. Decaying is beneficial to us because they play an essential role in the breakdown of organic matter,
recycling it and making it available again for new organisms to utilize.

D. Harmful – radioactive decay, tooth decay Useful- Fertilizers

E. Decaying process helps to digest food, and to recycle materials in our environment. Sometimes it can
cause problems too, such as food spoilage. The process is a part of the nutrient cycle and is essential for
recycling the finite matter that occupies physical space in the biosphere. Bodies of living organisms begin
to decompose shortly after death.
