Literature, Criticism, and Nation

We may not notice much but literature is important in our lives and in our country.

In the article, literature is said to be just more than text, but a history lived. It is true. We

learn so much of our history and human nature through literature.

Here in our country, we have a strong sense of political criticism that are usually

based on our own personal choices and beliefs, but not much cultural criticism because

it needs a solid background in culture and arts.

The only problem in our literature today is that we are still greatly influenced by

the American culture and their way of writing. Writers should focus more on substance

and meaning rather than the form. Our country is rich in culture and traditions, and we

must celebrate that.

Literature, criticism, and nation are all intertwined whether we like it or not. As

young Filipinos, we should carry on the legacy and rich history that our heroes gave up

their lives for.

As what Dr. Jose Rizal said, youth are the hope of our nation. Let us prove him

right.
