Vertical measurements on a woven top

Let’s get the “heights” right on the pattern

Draw the seam allowances of the pattern:

• Shoulder seams
• Side seams
• Armscye
Draw horizontal lines (RED) perpendicular to the
grainline at:
• Armhole depth (intersection of side seam with
armscye)
• Bust height (reference the bust dart)
• Waist (side seam notches)
• Full hip (widest part of the pattern below the
waist)

Add you own lengthen/shorten lines (GREEN) if

needed at:
• Armholes, above notches
• Between the high bust and the full bust
• 1-2” above the waistline
• At the mid-hip or full hip

You might want to adjust the finished length of a top for your personal
