Personal Statement

5C 12 Gurung Reshma Gurung

Journalism and being an editor are two things I am interested in. My helpful personality, my strive to

spread awareness and my strive to write about issues around me have guided me to pursue studying

journalism in tertiary education.

In my early stages of education, I was very interested in news reports and magazines I used to borrow

from the library. Inspired by the expressions used and unique backgrounds stories of different people, I

found out that my eagerness to learn about the different lives of people has gradually become intense.

With the curiosity about what is happening in different parts of the world, I started reading more

newspapers and watching various videos analyzing incidents about different countries. This keen

interest has guided me to choose Journalism as my desirable major and it will certainly become the

course that I would like to further study in university.

In terms of my ability to learn journalism, I an proud to say all my English teachers comment that I have

good reading skills as well as writing skills. There is no doubt that my passion for writing has been

accelerating my learning speed, making me the top third student in English writing.

Speaking of the ability to communicate well with others, I must share the experience of being a

Committee member in the English Club. Working for the English Club in Form 4, I was devoted to every

English Club activity, be it physical activity or clerical duty. For instance, Music Bingo was a very clerical

activity and Fashion Show was very physical activity. All these valuable experiences 1will give me

advantage when studying in university as students majored in Journalism are always required to do

group projects or group presentations.

I am a helpful person who likes to provides help to anyone in need. For example, I would try to provide

help to each member during group projects. Moreover, I am a creative person who likes to come up

with new fresh ideas during new activities I mentioned above will meet the requirements of studying

Journalism in university.

If I get admitted in this major as a university student, I will try my best to socialize with my new peers

during group projects and activities as well as put my heart in doing the best in the major. Journalism

would help me pursue my dream of being a journalist.
