In the accomplishment of this study successfully, we whole heartedly express our profound

for us to complete our community study.

pharmacology students at National University who allowed us to conduct a survey and supply us
with valuable information that aided in the development of this study.

I. Introduction
The third-year students at National University, Manila, NUR 182 conducted a study in the
community of Barangay 407, National University Manila, third-year pharmacy students, with the
goal of seeking an open participation for the improvement of the community. Community health
nursing involves a holistic approach to patient care. Interventions are aimed at individuals,
families, and groups. It is composed of three major concepts: (1) client; (2) goal; and (3) means.
Nursing practice in the community emphasizes on managing and preventing diseases and
educating the community about maintaining well-being. This research is built to aid the
community in developing an agreement about the priority of health problems in their individual
communities and creating and improving strategies to address the issues identified. Community
participation is believed to be beneficial to the development, implementation, and evaluation of
health services. The students should be efficient, capable, and have enough knowledge to
implement the community diagnosis in working for the development of health education with the
third-year pharmacy students at National University.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
We used comprehensive type of diagnosis because we aim to obtain the general information.
We used random sampling because we refer to taking a number of the independent observations
from same probability distribution without involving the entire population of pharmacy students
because of the limited time. Additionally, our target population are pharmacy students.
The data that should be collected are demographic data, health, and sanitation aspects.
4.Collect data
The method of data collection utilized the online survey platform using the tool of Modified
Community-Based Monitoring System (CMBS). The questions presented in the tool have been
used to acquire general data regarding the health status of Level 3 Pharmacy Students.
The said methods above are used through online survey and it was done simultaneously for 30
days.
The researchers used multiple choice survey question using Microsoft Forms Moreover, this
allows the Level 3 Pharmacy Respondents to select regarding the specific variables in the CMBS
tool given.
9.Data presentation
The descriptive data is presented in narrative. Moreover, the numerical is presented using graphs,
tables, as well as pie charts.
10.Data analysis
Establish the trends and patterns in terms of problems, health needs, of the specific community
by comparing it the obtained data to standards. Moreover, determine the interrelationships
between the factors to view the significance of the problem and its implication to the
community’s health status.
11.Identification of community health problems
We have established the existence of the problem by correlating the cues from the data gathered
through online survey that runs simultaneously for 30 days.
Identify the priority problems in the community using the following criteria:
1. Nature of the problem- the problems are classified as health status or health related
problems.
2. Magnitude of the problem- refers to the severity of the problem which can be measured
to the proportion of the population affected by the problem.
3. Mortality of the problem- refers to the possibility by reducing or eradicating the
specific problem.
4. Preventive potential-refers to the effect of the problems.
This is done using a scoring system utilized by the nurse in deciding which of the problem
needed to be prioritized.
VI.OPERATIONAL DEFINITION OF TERMS
Family- a group of persons usually together and composed of the head and other persons related
to the need by blood, marriage, or adoption. It includes the nuclear and extended family.
Moreover, they are sharing same resources (such as food, utilities, money and alike), social
responsibilities and privilege. Two families sharing one household, but 1 decision maker
considered as 1 family if both have a decisionmaker they are considered as 2 families.
Siblings- one of two or more individuals having one common parent.
Civil Status
Single- person is not and has never been married.
Married- person living with another person bound by legal rights.
Live-In- is a living arrangement in which an unmarried couple lives together in a long-
term relationship that resembles a marriage.
Widowed- person whose spouse has died and has not remarried. Widow or female,
widower for male.
Divorced- is a formal ending of a marriage. It's more permanent than a separation and
involves a legal process. If you get a divorce, that means the marriage is officially over.
Religious Affiliation
Roman Catholic- relating to, or being a Christian church having a hierarchy of priests
and bishops under the pope, a liturgy centered in the Mass, veneration of the Virgin Mary
and saints, clerical celibacy, and a body of dogma including transubstantiation and papal
infallibility.
Protestant- a member of any of several church denominations denying the universal
authority of the Pope and affirming the Reformation principles of justification by faith
alone, the priesthood of all believers, and the primacy of the Bible as the only source of
revealed truth.
Muslim- are people who follow or practice Islam, a monotheistic Abrahamic religion.
Born Again Christian- is someone who has repented of their sins and turned to Christ
for their salvation, and as a result has become part of God’s family forever. All this takes
place as God’s Spirit works in our lives.
Iglesia ni Cristo- affirms to be the one true church and the restoration of the original
church founded by Jesus, and that all other Christian churches are apostates.
Mormons- is a religious group that embrace concept of Christianity.
Family Income- defined as money /purchasing power earned by family members during specific
period of time plus goods and services received or created in that time by the family-goods like
vegetables from kitchen gardens, services like teaching children, doing household chores etc.
PhilHealth- is a Government Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) created through the
National Health Insurance (NHI) Act of 1995 or Republic Act 7875.
Crime- an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and
is punishable by law.
Type of Crime
Theft- the action or crime of stealing.
Robbery- the action of taking property unlawfully from a person or place by force or
threat of force.
Rape- unlawful sexual activity, most often involving sexual intercourse, against the will
of the victim through force or the threat of force or with an individual who is incapable of
giving legal consent because of minor status, mental illness, mental deficiency,
intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception.
Physical Injury- Damage to a person's body. An injury that exists so a person cannot
physically enjoy his property.
Carnapping- the action of stealing a car.
VI. Brief Background of Barangay:
Barangay NU (Level 3 Pharmacy) belongs to the 551 M.F Jhocson St, Sampaloc, Manila. As of
midyear of 2020, according to the statistical report of Program Chair of Pharmacy department
there are 54 3rd year level individuals living in the community. The surveyed total population of
the nursing students who conducted a Community Health Nursing in Barangay NU (Level 3
Pharmacy) as of May 2021 are 54 individuals which composed of level 3 pharmacy this is
caused by growth population size. The large number of households are majority Single house in
type. The total voting age population of the barangay is 16 out of 54. Singles are the largest
number than married, widowed, separated, live in and divorced in terms of civil status. 41 of the
whole community is Roman Catholic, 3 is Iglesia ni Cristo, 5 is Born-Again Christian and the
remaining group of community fill up “others”, means that the majority of the population are
Roman Catholic. Barangay NU (Level 3 Pharmacy) most of them the highest educational
attainment completed majority is College undergraduate and they seek to nearest medical
treatment in Private hospital/clinic and their areas has electricity the community it led to the
invention of labor-saving both work and home and changed to their productivity in the
households. The majority of Barangay NU (Level 3 Pharmacy) are not members of PhilHealth,
and in terms of income the majority of them have only the average monthly income, which is due
to the pandemic they have different challenges to overcome.

COMMUNITY PROFILE
The community has a Barangay Faculty Hall, which is located on the third floor of Barangay
National University's main building, where people, the Dean, and the Program Chair assemble to
address issues affecting their community. Canteens, Karinderya, Gas station, Apartment,
Basketball Court, and mostly supermarkets and other households cover the rest of the barangay.
The majority of the barangay is made up of dwellings and small building or establishments. The
weather, like the rest of the country, is tropical. Jeepneys and tricycles and sometimes cars are
the primary modes of mobility. Pedicabs are particularly few. Only a few houses have open
drainage, whereas the majority have blind drainage. The barangay has a trash separation
program. Residents' garbage is collected once a week on a regular basis. Their community has
electricity can be used to their daily living and its majority of households the main source of
cooking fuel is LPG.
