QUADS Case Exercise

The Case Scenario

Your research team is starting a new project focused on team managers’

effectiveness. The results of the research will be presented to the Heads of Human
Resources (e.g. Chief Human Resource Officers) within our client base.

The objective of the research is to identify the key factors that drive team manager
effectiveness by conducting a large-scale survey. Heads of Human Resources will
use these results to invest in the best ways to increase the effectiveness of team
managers within their enterprise.

For the purpose of the study, team managers are defined as any manager that is
responsible for coordinating a group of employees who are working towards a shared
goal (including management teams, project teams, functional teams, cross-functional
teams).

To determine the correct way to identify the most important markers/drivers of team
manager effectiveness, we would like you to answer the following three questions:

1. How would you build a predictive model to test what markers/drivers

have the greatest impact on team manager effectiveness?
2. How would you go about designing a survey to test the model? Who
would be your target audience and how would you think about reaching
them?
3. What would be the analytical technique(s) you would rely on to test your
predictive model? Are there any other methodologies you would
consider beyond a predictive model?
