Singular and Plural

1. Singular Nouns means only one noun


Example : boy, pen, house, school, class, car, spoon, balloon, apple

2. Plural Nouns means two or more nouns.


We must add ‘s’, ‘es’ , ‘ies’ in ending plural nouns.
Example : classes, balloons, cats, butterflies, toys, watches, pillows

Nouns ending in ‘s’, ‘ss’, ‘x’, ‘sh’, ‘ch’ in plural form adding with ‘es’

Example : bus = buses, glass = glasses


fox = foxes, batch = batches

Nouns ending in ‘y’ in plural form adding with ‘ies’

Example : lady = ladies city = cities


army = armies dragonfly = dragonflies

* Not all nouns ending in ‘y’(vowel sound) can add ‘ies’.


but can addiing with ‘s’.
Example : boy = boys monkey = monkeys
toy = toys key = keys
donkey = donkeys

Nouns ending in ‘f’, ‘fe’ in plural form adding with ‘ves’

Example : leaf = leaves knife = knives

Exercise
Change the singular nouns sentences to plural nouns.
1. Amir picks flower.
Amir picks flowers.

2. Roshan takes book.


Roshan takes books.

3. Encik Lee buys watch.


Encik Lee buys watches.

4. Rabbit eats carrot.


Rabbits eat carrots.

5. The puppy is barking.


The puppies is barking.
