1. How do faculty and students’ exchange programs affect the academic
culture of Philippine schools? Cite specific examples.
2. A good number of foreign students are studying medical-related courses
in the Philippines. How do you relate this scenario with the concept of
globalization?
3. Consider regional discrimination in the Philippines: If a woman speaks
Cebuano or Bisaya in Manila, she is often assumed to be a maid or yaya;
If a man speaks Tagalog with a heavy, provincial accent, he is often
assumed to be a laborer, driver, or involved in some form of manual or
servile labor; If a person has an ugly face or unprofessional demeanor,
he/she is often assumed to be a criminal. As a teacher, how will you
teach your students to avoid these discriminatory practices?
4. What is your concept of multiculturalism? What specific learning
activities will you give your learners to teach multi-cultural literacy in
the classroom?
5. As a teacher, why is there a need to be multicultural literate? What are
the 21st Century skills and values needed for a teacher to teach
multiculturalism in the classroom?
