EPANET Z – STEPS

Epanet-Z is a valid tool to help us to design our pipes network using a satellite image as a background. This
allow us to directly design the pipe length. Unfortunately, like most free tools it have some compatibility
problems with new operating systems and need a good internet connection.

To reduce this problems my advice is to use it in combination with google earth (also to now the node
elevations).

1° Step Open Google earth to find the region where you have to design the pipes network

Set two “Placemark”

one lower left and
the other upper right
to know the zone of
pipes network

By a right click on
the placemark
(Properties) you can
find its coordinates.

2° Step – You can open Epanet VIEWDIMENSION

And set the coordinates

Latitude is Y

Logitude is X

Save and close the

File

3° Step – Now we can open

EPANET-Z. At first we have to
choose the Maps service for
example “Virtual Earth” and open
our saved network.

After we can change the kind of

view like satellite, terrain, map etc.

4° Step – Draw the pipes network
