EXERCISE 6

Prepare a consolidated mark sheet from the above data, applying the following rules:-

1. Change the total weightage for assignments to 20 marks(correct to 2 decimal places).

 To change the total weightage of marks, insert a new column(optional) and use the
appropriate formula [(C2/25)*20], where C2 represents the marks scored out of 25 and to be
converted in terms of 20. On entering the required value is obtained and we can select the cell
and scroll down at the edge to copy the formula to the required cells.

2. Change the total weightage for presentation to 20 marks(correct to 2 decimal places).

 The same process can be applied here to change total weightage to 20 marks. Correct it to 2
decimal places by applying the same in number formatting or by using Decrease decimal value
to required number of digits.

3. Calculate the Total marks(out of 100)of each student where Total marks= Assignment marks
+Presentation marks +Class participation marks +Test marks
 Use the appropriate formula as above and calculate the total marks of each student. This can
again be done by filling the formula in one cell and copying it to the other cells.

4. Round-up the Total Marks to the nearest whole number.

 =ROUNDUP(number, number of digits)
5. Highlight the marks of the topper using conditional formatting.

 Choose the final range of values and Click on Conditional formatting. Choose Top/Bottom…
and choose Top.. command. Insert the required input (1) and on entering you get the required output.

6. Grade the students using the following rules:- a. 80 and above :”A” b. 65And above – Below
80:”B” c. Below 65:”C”
 Use an IF function for this question. The condition to be satisfied and the required results are
mentioned inside =IF(“Condition”, Result) format using commas and can be copied to the ther
cells.

7. Find the total number of students who obtained grade A, using an appropriate Excel function
 COUNTIF function is to be used. This would count the number of students if they have scored
grade A.

8. Find the total number of students who obtained grade B and scored more than 70 marks, using
the appropriate Excel function

 Again COUNTIF using AND can be used. =COUNTIF(AND(Conditions),Results).

9. Highlight the details of the students with Grade A in green colour, Grade B in yellow colour and
Grade C in red colour
 We can choose the HIGHLIGHT Cells… under Conditional Formatting and Choose EQUALTO..
and give the required grades to match and choose the desired colours
