Hi, Olenka,
You asked me about my Fun Club. Yesterday I went
to the Computer Club. Computers are so cool. I loved
to go online. The Internet was amazing. We used
a special computer programme. I travelled all over
the world. Then I visited China. I was standing on
the Great Wall1 and looking around. It was like a real
thing. I felt like I was actually2 there.

Hello, Jim,
I enjoyed your letter. Computers are really super.
You can play different games, make animation1, listen to
music and watch videos. I sometimes do these things.
But I'm fond of acting.
Yesterday I was at the Drama
Club. We were discussing
characters of the book about
Harry Porter. I received the
part2 of Hermione3. I loved this
character4. She was the best
friend of Harry and Ron. She
had a very logical and good
character. Her parents were
proud5 of her. She was called
“a little know-it-all”6. I was
happy to have the chance
to act in the play.

Hi, Taras!
Thank you
for your letter
and New Year
greetings. Sorry,
I haven't written to you for a long time. To tell the truth,
I haven't checked my e-mail for some time.
I celebrated New Year's Eve1very well. My family and I
stayed up to see
the old year out2
and see the new
year in3. All over
the country there
were parties,
fireworks, singing
and dancing.
■h & і л
Big Ben struck midnight1, and people all over the UK2
linked hands with everyone next to them. It's a tradition
to sing a song called “Auld Lang Syne” which reminds
us of old and new friends. In future I'll send it to you.
I'm sure3, you'll like it.
Best wishes,
Ann

THE VALENTINE’S CARD
Jane: Look, Ann! I've got a Valentine's card!
Ann: Ooh! Who's it from?
Jane: I don't know... there's no name inside1. It's a secret2!
(Ann opens the door and see flowers and a Valentine's
gift)
Ann: Wow! Jane, come here! Can you see these roses?
They are pretty!
Jane: Oh, and there's a present here, too.
Ann: What is it? Open it, open it!
Jane: There are chocolates in the box.
(They are eating chocolates)
Ann: Mm... Yummy!..
Jane: Thank you, my secret friend!

Hi, Olenka!
How are you? I hope, you are doing well. We have
celebrated Valentine's Day and now I can't wait1 to
celebrate Easter. I love Easter best of all holidays. It's good
that this Christian2holiday is in spring, the days are longer.
1I can't wait — я не можу дочекатись
2Christian [’kristjan] — християнський, християнин
Friday’1. On this day
many people eat fish.
People eat special bread rolls called ‘Hot Cross Buns’.
There is a white cross on a hot cross bun. On Saturday,
the second day, my family and I decorate the eggs.
On Easter Sunday, the third day, Mum hides the eggs
somewhere in the garden. My brother and I usually find
them very quickly and put these eggs in the basket.
Then we all go to church and celebrate the Jesus’ rising
from the dead2. We wear nice clothes to church. In
church we sing Easter songs called hymns3. All people
look happy. Easter Sunday is an important day for
children. They get chocolate Easter eggs. After church
the families go home and have a big meal of roast lamb.
Easter Monday is a public4 holiday, and schools and
companies are closed. Some people send Easter cards.
The Easter decorations are everywhere, and we can see
pictures of baby rabbits, lambs, chicks, white lilies and
yellow daffodils.

Hi, Ann,
Thank you for your letter. It was very interesting
to read about your New Year's Eve. Every country has
its traditions. People like celebrating holidays. They like
to receive presents, too.
Yesterday I received a present.
No, it wasn't a holiday. It wasn't my
birthday yesterday. But my
godmother gave me a football. It
was an unbirthday present. Are you
surprised? It's a present people

give you when it isn't your birthday. I think it's better
to receive such gifts than birthday presents. Do you
know why? I'll tell you. There are 365 days in a year.
One day is your birthday, and you receive birthday
presents on this day. But there are three hundred sixty-
four days when you
might get unbirthday
presents. Isn't it
great?
I must leave now.
Looking forward
to your answer.
Best wishes,
Taras.

Hi, Ann!
How are you doing?
I hope the things are
good with you.
As for me, I'm
looking forward to
school holidays. My
family is fond of travelling1, and we are planning to visit
some interesting places on these holidays.
Travelling is fun, as you can see and learn a lot of
new things. We have travelled by different means
of transport: by ship, by train, by plane, by coach bus.
But this year we want to go somewhere2 by car.
It's nice, because you don't need to buy a ticket when
you travel by car, and you can stop wherever3you want.
What about you? Does your family like travelling?
Where are you going this year?
Best wishes,
Taras.

Taras has written an e-mail to me and said that his
family is going to travel by car this year and they can
stop wherever they want.
Bill: That's good, but I love the sea, and travelling by ship
is for me.
Jim: Don't argue3, friends. All means of transport are
good, and you can choose any of them. For example,
my cousin is keen on cycling. His friends and he
always travel by bike. They say, it's fantastic.
Jane: And my uncle loves to go camping. He says you
can keep fit4 and see the beauty of nature.
Bill: So, tastes differ5.
