GENETICIST

TURN UP
Observing the normal Hemoglobin DNA and
the sickle cell Hemoglobin DNA, you will be
aware of the change in the 17th nucleotide.
From the normal which is Thymine it changed
into Adenine in the sickle cell Hemoglobin DNA.
Due to this, the 6th Amino acid which should
be Glutamic acid is replaced by Valine. This
change is what we call mutation and with the
circumstances and factors available it appears
to be a gene mutation. The type pf gene
mutation present is Base Substitution wherein
the normal nucleotide used is swapped with
another for DNA replication.
