FIRST CRY OF THE

REVOLUTION: CRY OF
BALINTAWAK
The cry of Balintawak is kind of ambiguous because of the many arguments
(conflict in dates, place, and events) surrounding it.

August 1896

The Spaniards (authorities) became aware of the existence of the
Katipunan and began hunting and arresting its members

Bonifacio became impatient and can't wait to strike the Spaniards

He contemplates whether to start the attack or delay it.

Cedula = community tax certificate

Having a cedula means that you are a subject of Spain

Tearing it means you're going against Spain

Both are alleged places where the cry of revolution happened

Both Balintawak and Pugad Lawin were part of Caloocan

Now, Balintawak is part of Quezon City

Pugad Lawin is alleged to be known today as Bahay Toro in Caloocan

Another reason why Balintawak was alleged to be where the "cry of
revolution" happened (hence the name "Cry of Balintawak") was because the
monument of Bonifacio is in Balintawak
