In recent years, educationists have been trying to better the education system, especially
boarding schools are dramatically flourishing. While this trend has been supposed as a
positive development, it also brings detrimental effects for students and families.

On the one hand, boarding schools offer a unique education experience, with many
advantages over others. Firstly, it is undeniable that young students can have numerous
opportunities to enhance their independence. That is because youngsters will become
mature to struggle through unpleasant times and cope with any disappointments in the
future life. Hence, they might perceive how to rely utmost on themselves. Secondly,
some parents choose residential schools for their children to help them experience more
of the world and learn how to interact with diverse people from a young age. In other
words, they may have a lifetime relationship since they spend an amount of time together
like eating, sleeping, and doing activities with others, which may make them adapt to the
general environment.

On the other hand, there are a plethora of drawbacks to studying in boarding school. On
top of that, students in residential schools may offer a sense of homesickness and
isolation. It means that they miss out on the emotional support and daily conversation that
family and flatmates can provide. As a result, it will, to some extent, weaken the family
bonds. Besides, Young students may be swayed easily by harmful content such as drug
abuse, violence, and casual sex. Thus, they might adapt to unhealthy habits, improper
behavior and end up falling behind in studies. In addition, sending children to boarding
schools requires high costs. In this case, it is not inevitably appropriate for parents if they
do not have strong enough finances and prepare carefully before enrolling in this kind of
school.

In conclusion, whereas the residential school may bring some benefits, it also leads to
several negative consequences for some individuals and families.
