CHARACTERS

1. Gene Jenkins- acting supervisor of the accounts servicing department of Wilson’s,


Kathy’s senior at work.
2. Kathy showers- account service representative of Wilson’s, 27 & single.

SUMMARY

Kathy showers work at Wilson, which is one of the region's departmental store chains. Kathy is
one of the four female representatives under gene Jenkins, who is an acting supervisor in
Wilson's account servicing department. Kathy takes care of about 5,000 accounts every day.
Having been in this department for more than two years, she has been able to get the job done
faster and earlier than others without any mistakes. Suddenly there is a change in her behavior as
she becomes very moody and continues to disobey instructions. Kathy’s behavior is a big
problem for Gene because it destroys the office work environment and makes other more likely
to be affected by such behavior. Her behavior annoyed her colleagues and, they started
complaining to Gene about it. A subsequent search by her colleagues revealed that she was
always disturbed due to her personal problem with her boyfriend which caused her to lost control
of herself and started yelling & swearing at others. This behavior of Kathy affects the
atmosphere of the company negatively.

RECOMMENDATION

 Face to face talk to her about her problems


 Motivate her
 Offer her employee assistance program: counseling
 Offer her time off work- vacation or unpaid personal leave such as FMLA to deal with the issues.
 Make her a performance improvement plan to prove herself
 If her performance and behavior improves, keep her at work
 If not, fire her.
