DIAGNOSIS CODES

Diagnosis codes are classified based on ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision
Clinical Modification). ICD-10-CM was implemented in the year October 1st, 2015. Prior to October
2015, the Diagnosis coding version we followed is ICD-9-CM

ICD-10-CM format is XXX.XXX X

It can have upto a maximum of 7 characters.

1st character will always be an Alphabet

2nd character will always be a numeral

3rd to 7th character can be Alpha or Numerals

After the third character there is a Decimal
