Dear Dustin Monke,

What's the best part of a North Dakota summer? Rummage sales of course!

On Jun. 2, 2018, the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway Committee will be hosting
the 7th annual Old Red Trail Rummage Sale. A multi-community event, the sale
will feature 108 miles of rummage sales with unique items and sales in each
town from Mandan to Dickinson.

While each year has brought something new to the Old Red Trail Rummage
Sale, this year's event will be bigger than ever. At 7 a.m., the event will kick off
with a free pancake breakfast at the Mandan Heritage Plaza in Mandan, ND.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. nearly 100 sales will be hosted in the seven communities
along the Old Red Trail.

Last year, over 1,000 attendees and 100 sale hosts from across the region
participated in the Old Red Trail Rummage Sale, with many attendees coming
from Dickinson.

Due to the great interest in the Rummage Sale from the Dickinson area, we
want to extend an early opportunity to the Dickinson Press to cover this year's
event.  As such, I have included our official media kit for the Rummage Sale.

Enclosed you will find the following components, detailing our mission and
engagement along the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway. These pieces include:

Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway Announces Return of 108 Mile Rummage Sale
Communities from Mandan to Dickinson Use Rummage Sale to Stimulate
Rural Economies and Launch  Summer Tourism Season

MANDAN, ND - On Jun. 2, 2018, the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway will host the seventh
annual Old Red Trail Rummage Sale. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature
nearly 100 individual rummage sales in the seven towns along the Trail.

Back again after its most successful year, the Old Red Trail Rummage Sale will feature a free
pancake breakfast to kick off the event. The breakfast will start at 7 a.m. in the Mandan
Heritage Plaza in Mandan, ND and is open to the public.

While the Old Red Trail Rummage Sale offers a great chance for visitors to learn about each
of the communities along the Old Red Trail and shop, the event also showcases western
North Dakota's small, rural communities and focuses on rural economic development.

By driving traffic to the Trail's smaller communities, the rummage sale showcases the unique
stores, restaurants, and artisans of Western North Dakota and in turn, raises both regional
and tourist awareness of the communities' offerings.

According to Old Red Trail Committee Secretary Robin Reynolds, "The Rummage Sale offers
the best foot traffic you could ever expect to have in these smaller communities. It is a great
opportunity for residents who usually shop in Mandan or Dickinson to see traffic from these
bigger communities making purchases in their own smaller towns." Last year's sale saw
attendees from 45 different locations across the state and several out of state visitors.

The Old Red Trail Committee is excited to build on last year's success and continue raising
awareness about the Trail and the many unique attractions each community has to offer. "We
are expecting our number of sales to be up from last year and believe our attendee number
will increase as well," said Reynolds.  "It's a wonderful community event and chance to kick off
summer on the Old Red Trail. We love getting to share our smaller towns with a large state-
wide community and generate foot traffic for our rural business owners."

To learn more about the Rummage Sale or to add your own sale to the event, contact the
Rummage Sale coordinator, Delores Klussman at 701-843-8676 or visit www.oldredoldten.com
by May 25, 2018.

The Old Red Trail Committee seeks to address the recreational, historical, and economic
revitalization needs of the communities along Highway 10 from Mandan to Richardton, ND, by
creating awareness of the Old Red Old 10 Scenic Byway as an alternative to Interstate travel in
western North Dakota.

BACKGROUNDER

Founded in 2010, the Old Red Trail Rummage Sale is the region’s largest yard
sale event. Rooted in the mission of the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway, the
rummage sale focuses on rural economic development by showcasing the
unique offerings of Western North Dakota’s small towns.

In its first year, the Old Red Trail Rummage Sale sought to connect the
communities along the trail and promote local businesses. The event quickly
grew to its current size of nearly 100 individual yard sales and over 1,000
attendees with participation from all seven towns along the Trail.

Anchored by Mandan and Dickinson on each end, the Old Red Trail’s rural
communities see the Rummage Sale as a chance to bring shoppers from
larger communities back to their local stores. From pottery to coffee shops
and everything in between, the rural businesses of the Old Red Trail each
utilized the annual rummage sale to gain valuable regional exposure and
share their products with attendees from around the state and country.

The seventh annual Old Red Trail Rummage Sale promises to be more
successful than ever with over 100 sales and an increase in attendance
expected. The Old Red Trail Committee is excited to build on previous years’
success and continue raising awareness about Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway
and all it has to offer.
