1. Pipelines: The negative pipe-to-soil ON potential shall be a minimum of 1.

2 volts and a
maximum of 3.0 volts, with reference to a copper/copper sulfate electrode. (SAES-X-400 Sec.
5.5.1).
2. Anodes to be installed deeper than 15 meters shall be classified as “deep” anode beds, and as
such require the drilling depth to be pre-approved in writing by the Groundwater Division of the
Saudi Aramco Reservoir Characterization Department. (SAES-X-400 Sec. 5.6.2)
3. Separate adjacent anode beds powered from separate power sources by a minimum distance of
50 meters. (SAES-X-400 Sec. 5.6.4).
4. Inspect impressed current anode cable leads for below grade usage for insulation damage just

107 Sec. 4.6)
11. If buried and used for grids and/or interconnection of ground rods be minimum 70mm². (SAES-

12. If buried and used for grids and/or interconnection of ground rods be minimum 25mm². (SAES-
P-111 Sec. 5.1h)
13. Ground rods shall have a minimum length of 2.4 meters. (SAES-P-111 Sec. 5.2c).
14. Ground busses in switchgear, switchboards, and motor control centers shall have two
connections to the main ground electrode. (SAES-P-111 Sec. 9.5)
