WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER
Stronger Together (www.stronger2gether.org) is a multi-stakeholder collaborative initiative supporting
organisations in all sectors to address modern slavery risks within their business and supply chains.
Our Vision is for supply chains free from modern slavery.
Our Mission is to work together to reduce forced labour, labour trafficking and other hidden third-party labour
exploitation of workers in supply chains.
We are a not-for-profit social enterprise.
We use an internationally proven collaborative methodology, engaging stakeholders at an industry-wide
level based on the corporate responsibility to respect human rights within the framework of the UN Guiding
Principles on Business and Human Rights.
2 Getting started 2
SCOPE

3. Let us know you are a Modern Slavery Champion for your business
by registering on the Stronger Together website. Once registered,
you can download additional copies of all the resources provided in
this pack and order prints if required.
*If you are already registered email info@stronger2gether.org to let
us know you are a Modern Slavery Champion.

any other hidden labour exploitation, please notify the Gangmasters and Labour
Abuse Authority on 0800 432 0804 or the police (999 only in an emergency).

THREE
• Share and promote awareness materials
• Encourage and support peers to report issues
In order to fulfil this role effectively a Modern Slavery Champion should have:
FOUR
FOR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
Regularly communicating with workers reinforces the business commitment to tackle
modern slavery and empowers individuals to come forward and ask for help.
Following the good practice below will help you deliver effective communications.
Don’t worry if you don’t have all the answers to people’s questions.
Speak to your manager and/or business’s Modern Slavery Lead for more
information and follow up with the individual(s) who asked.
Keep content brief and uncomplicated. Use short sentences and avoid
technical jargon where possible.
When using noticeboards, think about how to capture your audience’s
attention. People are unlikely to process huge amounts of information
and text. It is also important to ensure that any information displayed is
kept up to date.
Ask managers and the senior management team to talk about your
activity, to demonstrate the importance of raising awareness of tackling
modern slavery.
2. https://www.stronger2gether.org/product/effective-communication-with-a-multi-language-workforce-toolkit-for-employers-and-labour-providers/
• A checklist to verify you have taken all the required preparation steps
FIVE
• An activity calendar template to help you plan your time
• Modern slavery awareness posters, available in multiple languages
• Modern slavery awareness leaflets
• Modern slavery awareness pocket guides
• A team talk activity template
• A presentation notes template to support delivery of the modern slavery
awareness presentation.
The resources listed above can also be downloaded for free from the Stronger
Together website – see www.stronger2gether.org/resources/. We update all our tools
and engagement materials regularly so remember to check on the website for the
most recent versions.
Stronger Together resources have been designed so that they can be adapted to suit
you and your business. For example, you can add a Company logo to the modern
slavery awareness presentation and choose which of the multi-language subtitled
videos is most suitable for the audience. The name of the manager to be contacted
with issues and concerns can be added to our awareness posters.
All the materials and activity ideas provided are a starting point; there may be other
ways you communicate and engage with workers in your business. We encourage
you to be creative and adapt our resources to fit your existing communication
channels.
Please contact us at info@stronger2gether.org if you have any questions or feedback.

Summary:
This activity has been designed to bust common myths or misconceptions about modern slavery, using a
series of statements for you to present to your teams.
The team is asked to vote on whether they think each statement is either a ‘myth’ or ‘fact’. This can
be facilitated either by asking participants to move to one side of the room or the other or holding up
different coloured sheets of paper. After they have voted, reveal the correct answer, and read out the
additional information provided with each question.

estimated to be in situations of modern slavery worldwide.

maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
