PREPARATION BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER

HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL HAZARDS
By: Emmanuel Francisco

Before the hazards happen, you need to first understand what kinds of hazards happen
around your location. Afterwards, you need to prepare your essentials such as: Medicine Kits,
Food and Water, Clothes, Important Documents, and so forth. Just remember to pack your
necessities beforehand so you are ready anytime. Do not wait until the hazards hit your home,
make sure to write down the emergency hotlines and the contact numbers of the rescue teams.

Secure an escape route around your area and make sure to reinforce your home or the buildings
you are staying at. When you are done with these steps, you are now prepared before a hazard
strikes.

During the hazard, you should immediately contact the rescue teams and ask for help
and let them guide you to safety. Focus on evacuating as quickly as possible, with your
belongings and necessities. NEVER leave pets chained or leashed while you are evacuating, and
do not forget your important documents and emergency kits. Listen to the rescuers and proceed
to go to the evacuation sites that they will point out. Do not hastily leave your homes because
that might lead you to getting injured or worse, your death. You need to evacuate!

After the hazard, make sure to check if everything is complete, and if everyone is safe.
Report to the rescue team if you are missing someone or something and return home only when
they tell you to. When you get back home, make sure to check every nook and cranny of the
house for damages. Prepare and restock again to ensure your safety for the next hazards to come.
