BEHAVIOUR

MODIFICATION
POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT
Using compliments, approval,
encouragement and affirmation.
Give at least 5 positive reinforcements
for better effect

EXTINCTION
This approach uses either
reinforcement/punishment to modify or
shape behavior

TIME OUT
Removing the teacher’s attention or being placed
in a chair for a specified time with no interaction
with either students or the teacher.

REMOVAL OF PRIVILAGES
Removing privileges or deny participation in
activities
To be effective a valued privilege is removed &
must be used consistently for an appropriate
duration.

VERBAL REPRIMANDATION
Teachers use disapproving verbal statements as
a form of punishment to alter undesired
behaviour. (should refer to the undesirable
behaviour and not slander the child’s character.)

CORPORAL PUNISHMENT
involves the application of some form of
physical pain in response to undesirable
behavior ( slapping, beating, spanking,
scalding)
