Some people are of the opinion that to become a well-rounded individual, students have to be excel at

both academic performance and social responsibilities and it is of the utility to choose community
services as an obligatory course in the school curriculum. I am inclined to partly agree with this view.

One the one hand, joining community services can bring a host of perks to students who want to fullfill
themshelves. One evident merit of this is that it would enable students accumulate more knowledge
that needed for them in the future. For instance, when students engage in environmental clean-up
activities , these activities will strengthen their knowledge about the environment and raise their
awareness about protecting our Green Planet. Another justification why extracurricular activities can do
wonders for students’ development is that it could help widen social circle which is an optimal way to
gain advice and guidance from experienced seniors. In other words, create some strong connection can
bring in numerous benefits for students in the long run.

On the other hand, I tend to believe that community servies should be optinal for students for many
rationales. First and foremost, spending too much time on these activities will ditract them from
studying and it perhaps affect to students academic performance. That is why it should be optional to
enable students to manage their time and think for that option. What is more, it also relies on the
students’ living conditions. For instance, some students have a difficult living circumstances so they will
not have time, money to take part in these activitie. They have to stay at home to do the domestic work
or helping their parents doing other things.

In conclusion, there are certain methods to sharpen ourselves become a well-rounded student. We have
to evaluate in many aspects in order to come up with an approriate policy for students. Therefore, I am
convinced that the schools should take into account this issue carefully.
