SORCRATES

 Socrates define “SELF” as a dualistic, the soul and body. He

believes that the true “self” is our soul. My point of view of
Socrates idea of self is that man must believe in his or her
principles and should not follow the wagon effect of the society
and human soul is immortal and is a product of different
perceptions. His understanding about our souls gives us the
capacity to not only accept ourselves more fully, but our
relationship within the universe.
PLATO
 Plato master and supported the idea that man is dual in
nature. He added that there are components of the soul:
rational soul; spiritual soul; and appetitive soul. My point of
view of Plato’s idea of self is that man in this life should
imitate his former self; he should live a life of virtue in which
true human perfection exists. That soul just takes shelter
within the body. The three parts are all located in three
different areas: reason is in the mind, spirited is in the
heart, and desire is in the stomach.
ST. AGUSTINE
 Augustine’s view of the human person reflects the entire spirit
of the medieval world when it comes to man. He combined the
platonic ideas into Christianity perspective. The body is bound
to die on earth and the soul is to anticipate living eternally in
communion with God. My point of view of St. Augustine’s idea
about self is that life continues after death and one can attain
eternal blessedness in future he shows optimism. He also
show the characteristics of Christianity.
