ASSEMBLY ‘Thojackis completely assembledexcept for the handle assembly. ‘Assemble jack handle to jack frame as follows: ‘A. Apply alight coat of chassis ‘grease to jack handle socket (299310). B. Loosen hex head screw (234956). . Insort jack hance (234968) into jack hancle socket (239310). D. Tighten hex head screw (234958). OPERATION BEFORE USING JACK Prior to operation a visual jack inspec tion shall be made. Check for bent or ‘wom parts, hydraulic leaks, damaged, tose or missing parts. ‘Check jack operation by closing release valve and pumping jack handle. ifjack responds Immediately to pump ection, It ig ready to use. If not, refer to TROUBLESHOOTING and perform PURGING AIR FROMJACK procedure, Itjack is damaged, badly wom, or oper- ‘tas abnormally it shall be removed from service. Contact a tactory autho- ‘ized service center for repair. WW the jack has been subjected to an abnormal loador shock, the jackshallbe inspected bya factory authorizedservice center. ‘An annual jack inspection is recom- ‘mended to be performed by a factory ‘authorized service center. USING JACK ‘A. It raising a vehicle, set the parking brakes and block the ‘vehicle wheels. 8. Using jack handle, firmly close relaase valve by turing clock wise, C. Install vehicle stands or other appropriate support under the vehicle/load, DONOT CRAWL UNDER VEHICLE/LOAD. F. Carefully ower vehicle/load on to vehicle stands or support. REMOVING JACK ‘A. Using jack handle, make sure release valve is closed by ‘tuming clockwise. B. Pump jack handle and raise vehiciefoad just enough to clear vehicle stands or sup- port. Jack wheels must be ‘ree to roll while iting. ©. Remove vehicie stands or support from under vehicie! load. DO NOT CRAWL UN- DER VEHICLE/LOAD. D. Usingjackhandie, siowly open release valve by turing coun- terclockwise and slowly lower vehiclafioad. E. When ehicie/ioad is fully low- ‘ered, remove jack from under vohicle/load. MAINTENANCE A CAUTION BRAKE OR TRANSMISSION FLUIDS WILL DAMAGE EQUIPMENT SEALS. CHECKING HYDRAULIC OIL LEVEL ‘A. Open release valve and allow Jack to fully retract. B. Remove filer plug. It reservoir to bottom of filer plug hole with clean hydraulic jack oll, Do not overfil. D. Reinstall filer plug. Hand tighten only. LUBRICATION All jack linkages and moving joints require frequent lubrication. Any chas sis grease and motor oil can be used. Lubricate jack as follows: A. Clean jack as required before applying lubricant. B. Remove handle and apply ‘grease to jack handle socket opening, ©. Use a grease gun to grease the lit arm fulcrum pin through the grease fiting. 1D. Applyciltothe pump rollerand handle socket side plate pivot pins. E, Applyoiitoallittarmlinkages, Universal joint, front wheels and rear casters bearings. TROUBLESHOOTING {tthe following procedures donotcorrect, the problem, contacta factory authorized service center. When submitting a jack ‘0 equipment to be repaired, be sure to state the nature of the problem. PURGING AIR FROM JACK ‘As with any hydraulic unt, the jack may ‘occasionally become air bound due to being tipped over during shipment or handling. To purge air trom jack hydraulic circuit, pertorm the following | COMMON PROBLEMS procedure: A ‘Open release valve one full tum counterclockwise. Pump jack handle at least 6 full strokes to purge air ‘rom the pump. (Close the release valve, Pump jack handle until jack {is fully extended. Continue to pump slowly several times to purge air ‘rom the ram. ‘Open release valve and a= low jack to retract fully. (Close the release valve. ‘Check the pump action. it Jack does not respond, re- ‘Peat the above procedures ‘soveral timos until air is ‘purged from the jack. JACK WILL NOT LIFT TO FULL HEIGHT * Oil level tow. Perform CHECKING HYDRUALIC OIL LEVEL procedure. JACK WILL NOT HOLD LOAD Release vaive not closed or ‘not sealing. Repair may ba required. + Dirt tydrauiie ot or pump ball valves not seating. Flush hydraulic circuit by losing release valve and ‘pumping jack to maximum height. Open release vaivo ‘and quickly lower jack by ‘manually pushing on lift cap. Repeat necessary. 1 this procedure does not ‘correct the problem, Inter- ‘al ropairs are required, LIFTING ARM WILL NOT LOWER PROPERLY = Broken retum spring. Replacement required. + Lit arm bearings binding. Perform LUBRICATION pro- ‘cedure and lubricate lift arms. ‘+ Hydraulic cylinder ram bind- ing.
