- Purchase Specification is a tool that describes the quality


requirements to be met by products purchased by a
hospitality organization, the importance of purchase
specification is that it can determine the standards and
quality of the product; it also can be useful in costing of the
product to be purchased, example for this is planning and
having a set of goals when purchasing a certain product,
product must be in a proper quality and has a precise
description, just like architects or engineers building a
building, they are ought to make a detailed description and
measurements of the products or materials to be used in the
project so that it will fit to the budget given by the owner and
to prevent rising of problems.

2. What is the purchasing process? Discuss each.(50 points)

Answer:

- Purchasing process is the obtaining of either services or


goods, or both, or in other words, it is the overall process
related to acquiring goods or services. The purchasing
process usually starts only after the potential buyer has
identified or defined the requirement and identifies product
need, determines quality requirements and quantity to
purchase, identifies vendor sources, selecting vendor for
order, to ordering, receiving, storing, paying and evaluating
the product being purchased; and it ends after receipt of the
good or service and payment of invoice.
