1. What is TQM?

Use your own words and experiences in explaining the


meaning of TQM.

 TQM is a management approach by providing/improving customers


satisfaction for long-term succession. It is also part of the management to
continue to improve its processing, product/service and system.

2. Explain the different principles and cite some experiences related to it.

 Customer-focused - the customers are the consumers so customers


determine the future of a certain product or the company. Example: like
the video of Handy, His customers decide the sales of his orange juice
and Handy and Mandy decided to listen to the customers by reading the
customers’ feedback.

 Total employee involvement- employees are involve in improving it


system, progress and product/service. Example: In the video of Handy
guide, the 2 employees are doing the processing of orange juice and were
improved by putting them closer.

 Process-centered- TQM focuses on process thinking were inputs and


outputs being monitored and improved. Example: in the video of Handy
guide, the management (Handy and Mandy) decided to listen to
customer’s feedback and implement some changes, their sales started
rising by implementing and improving their processing.

 Integrated system

 Strategic and systematic approach- it is where the mission, vision and


goal of the company lies to help the organization rise for long-term
succession. Example: in the video of Handy guide, Handy and Mandy
became partners and Mandy made some changes to help the organization
to improve its mission and vision for the future of the organization.

 Continual improvement- approach that helps the organization to be


analytical and creative to find ways to be competitive and effective.
Example: in the video of Handy guide, Handy and Mandy came up with a
creative idea to improve the organization sales by producing new fruit
juice (pineapple juice) and types of juices (with buds/ smooth)

 Fact-based decision making- collect and analyze date for better and to
improve decision making. Example: in the video of Handy guide, Handy
and Mandy listen to the customer’s feedbacks and gather some data and
analyzed to find a way to improve their organization.
 Communication- it is used in day-to-day operation to have an effective
outcome in processing and motivate employees at all level. Example: in
the video of Handy guide, It is show how the 2 employees are producing
the orange juice and how the management improve it to be more efficient
and reduce the time consuming by delivering it to one place to another.

3. How is TQM relevant to your course? Do you think it will add value to you as
a Carolinian graduate? Explain your answer.

 TQM is relevant in all course under Business and economics (SBE), it is


where data and analysis being process and strategic planning is being
process happens. Being a Carolinian, it will improve me as a professional
being during in the field of operation where I may continuous detection
and eradication process and help the management of the supply chain,
enhance customer service and ensure that staff are trained.

4. In what way can you improve the quality of your outputs in class? What TQM
principle can you use to ensure such?

 Continual improvement, I will improve my output by analyzing better in a


given task and be creative in finding ways to improve my performance.

5. What is your one, major takeaway (a key fact, point, or idea to be remembered,
typically one emerging from a discussion or meeting - from Oxford Languages) from
the video? Explain your answer.

 For me, the major key in the video is” How to Improve the organization”.
By watching the short video, I realized that Handy’s organization started to
improve by realizing that he can improve his product. I came to
understanding the importance of Quality Management, Quality
management enhance customer loyalty by concentrating on the customer
and regularly meeting customer needs. Customers are always happy
when their expectations are met. When they expect a certain product or
service and you offer it without complications and at a fair price, you will
gain loyal customers and have built up a strong customer relationship.
