FactoryTalk Activation Manager v 4.03.03 or higher

Answer

Rehosting license from a disconnected computer (o ine) requires access to any other
machine that is connected to Internet (online) and has FactoryTalk Activation Manager
installed.
If FactoryTalk Activation Manager is not installed on the online machine, please follow
Installation process of FactoryTalk Activation Manager first.
Procedure described below is designed for FTAM v 4.03.03 and higher.
If you use lower version of Activation Manager, upgrade it to latest version on both
machines or follow FactoryTalk Activation Manager: Rehosting licenses manually.

On o ine computer

Start by creating data file:

. Open FactoryTalk Activation Manager and go to Manage Activations > Rehost

Activations > I need to select the activations I want to bind to a different
computer or dongle > Select Data File .

. Select the location and specify the name of the data file to store your rehosting
data and click on Select Activations button.
Note: During the o ine rehost process this file will be updated multiple times.

 
. Select the activations you wish to rehost and click Next Steps.

. Confirm Activation removal by clicking Continue.

 
. Click on Go to Data File Location... and move the data file to online computer.

On online computer

Continue by uploading the data file:

. Open Factory Talk Activation Manager >  Manage Activations > Rehost

Activations > Import from Data File and upload the data file created on o ine
computer.

. Make sure that proper license is checked and click Continue Rehosting.

. Confirm Activation removal by clicking Continue.

 
. You will get message that information has been written to the transport data file.
Move the overwritten data file back to o ine computer.

Back on o ine computer

Remove rehosted license:

. Go to FactoryTalk Activation Manager >  Manage Activations > Rehost

Activations > I need to remove rehosted activations from this machine > Select
Data File.

. Point to the data file that was updated on online computer and click Next Steps.

. Confirm Activation removal by clicking Continue.

 
. You will get message, that data was written to the transport data file. Move the

Back on online computer

. Open Factory Talk Activation Manager >  Manage Activations > Rehost

Activations > Import from Data File and upload the data file updated on o ine
