EXT. BUS STOP – AFTERNOON

SUSAN, a woman about thirty years old, wearing semi-stylish casual clothing sits at a
bench with her son, BILLY who is between the ages of five and eight years. It’s a sunny
day and cars roar down the street. Billy looks at his finger nails and starts absently-
mindedly biting at them.

SUSAN
(disgustedly)
Stop that!

BILLY
(curiously)
Why?

Woman discreetly points to a nine-month pregnant woman sitting on the opposite end of
the bench. Pregnant woman is reading a book, not noticing the mother and son.

SUSAN
(sternly whispering)
If you don’t stop, you’ll end up with a belly like that.

Son perks up his head and quizzically looks at the pregnant woman. Bus PULLS UP and
OPENS the doors loudly.

INT. BUS- SAME TIME

Susan, Billy, and the pregnant woman board the bus. Pregnant woman immediately sits in
the closest seat. Susan sits with Billy in a seat a few rows back. Susan pulls out a map
and studies it. While Susan is distracted, Billy looks at the pregnant woman and walks up
to her. He stands in front of her and she looks up at him, smiling.

BILLY
(stately and with sympathy)
I know how you got that way.

The woman’s mouth ghastly falls open and her eyes widen.
