COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides a comprehensive study of the psychological, anthropological, sociological,
historical, and philosophical foundations of education. It seeks executive leaders as new agents
of change who will be equipped with skills and techniques in supervisory instruction making
them active agents of change and innovation.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES


1. In-depth knowledge and understanding of school systems as complex bureaucratic
organizations viewed from the following perspectives:
• Psychological, Socio-Cultural, Historical and Philosophical Development of
Educational Thoughts
• changing context and goals
• present and future direction of Philippine Educational System
2. Adequate Higher Order Thinking Skills to:
• analyze the highlights of the different periods in the development of the Philippine
Educational System
• compare and contrast the aims, principles and methods, programs, and results of
the educational system at various historical periods
• evaluate influences of well-known educators to the present Philippine Educational
System
3. Positive values and progressive attitudes in:
• exploring the development of the Philippine Educational System
• cultivating the spirit of inquiry into the evolution of the school systems in the
Philippines
• acquiring the habit of critical and reflective thinking about one’s role as a
stakeholder of the Philippine Educational System
• acting as agent of change through research-based decision making in terms of
dealing with issues affecting education

This course is conducted entirely online, which means you do not have to be on campus
until further announcement. You may participate in the course using Zoom Videoconferencing

VIRTUAL OFFICE HOURS:


Every Saturday: 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. (At least an hour for online group discussion via
Zoom Videoconferencing App – schedule and link will be posted to our Messenger Group Account
before the videoconferencing)

COURSE PARTICIPATION POLICYS :


Participation is essential to this class. You are required to participate just as if you were in
a face-to-face class. This means that in order to acquire full credit for participation, you will have
to complete the online presentation and discussions, assignments, activities and quizzes on a
timely basis. Consistent failure to participate will result in being dropped or failed on this subject.
