DELEGATION

Knowing that I’m the one who was tasked to delegate for Paula, I must handle the

situation by carrying out Paula’s requests, and if she wants to backtrack when she returns, she’ll

be present and able to decide if she wishes. However, giving me the responsibility of terminating

an employee is somehow inappropriate. Giving verbal and written warnings is allowable, but

termination is on another level and I think it’s better to give the last call to Paula on talking to

Mary. Overall, I do not think it’s appropriate for one manager to carry out another’s disciplinary

action, for the situation may be completely foreign to the newcomer and they might not have all

the facts. The written disciplinary action has some benefit to the situation, but does not cover all

the “he said, she said” incidences.
