The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) is incharge of the mathematical olympiad activity for the country 3. Who conducts PRMO? A. Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India) (MTA) has been recognized by NBHM as the body which will conduct PRMO. MTA has been in charge of organizing, in collaboration with HBCSE, the PRMO (Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad) which is the first step in the sequential selection process towards participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). 4. What is the website for PRMO? A. The website for PRMO is available at http://www.mtai.org.in/prmo 5. What is the eligibility for PRMO? A. Candidates born on or after August 1, 2001 and studying in Class 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 are eligible to write PRMO 2020. Further, the candidates must be Indian citizens. 6. What is the duration of PRMO exam? A. The PRMO will be a machine-correctable 3-hour duration test with 30 questions. Each question has an answer which is a number with one or two digits. 7. What is the syllabus for PRMO exam? A. The syllabus broadly is Number theory, Plane Geometry, Algebra and Combinatorics. 8. Where Sample PRMO questions can be downloaded? A. Sample PRMO questions and Sample OMR sheet showing marked answers can be downloaded from http://olympiads.hbcse.tifr.res.in/how-to-prepare/past-papers/. 9. How schools can register for this exam? A. Schools can register as “registration centres” for PRMO at this link: https://mtaexam.com. (registrations will start soon) In order to register students individually or in groups, the registration centres will collect the exam fees from the students from any school and register them at the portal. *10. What is the exam fee? A. The fee will be Rs 230.00 for each non-KV and non-JNV student. The registration centre will retain Rs 20.00 (to be used for making student lists and printing admission tickets) and remit the balance of Rs 210.00 to MTA. There will be a reduced fee of Rs.125.00 for each KV and Rs.100 for each JNV student. For such students, the registration centre will remit the entire amount (Rs.125 or Rs.100) to MTA. All KV and JNV students have to register through their schools to avail the reduced fee. *11. When is the PRMO exam portal open for school registration? A. The PRMO exam portal will be open from June 1 to June 30 for centre registration. *12. What is the last date for centre registration? A. The centre registration closes on June 30, 2019. *13. When is the PRMO exam portal open for students registration? A. The PRMO exam portal will be open from June 1 to July 7 for student registration through registered Centres. Registered centres should start registering students from June 1 to avoid last minute rush. 14. Are open school students eligible to write PRMO exam? A. OPEN SCHOOL (NIOS) students can also directly register for the PRMO exam through the portal. Such registration will be provisional and subject to verification. The link for direct student registration will be available from July 1 to July 7, 2019. ALL OTHER STUDENTS SHOULD REGISTER THROUGH A REGISTRATION CENTER. 15. Are KVs and JNVs can register students of other schools? A. All Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Atomic Energy Central Schools may also register as registration centres and may accept to register students from other schools. *16. When is the PRMO exam? A. PRMO exam is generally conducted in the 2nd week of August. 17. Can the student have the carbon copy of the OMR sheet after the exam? A. A carbon copy of the answer (OMR) sheet will be given to the student after the exam; students can check their answers as against the answers which will be uploaded on the MTA website. NOTE: The OMR sheet MUST be retained by the individual student till the conclusion of the Mathematical Olympiad Programme for 2019-20. This will be used for verification purposes for all steps of the Mathematical Olympiad. *18. When the results of PRMO exam will be announced? A. September 1st week. 19. How many students will be selected from each region? A From each region, the top (up to) 300 students from Classes 8, 9, 10, 11 and the top (up to) 60 students from Class 12 will be eligible to write the Regional Mathematics Olympiad exam. For the KV, JNV schools which have a countrywide coverage, the number to be selected is up to 5 per cent from Classes 8, 9, 10, 11 and up to 1 per cent from Class 12, of the number of registrations 20.
