I believe Dementia is real. I am currently caring for my grandmother. At this time
she is battling not only Dementia but her kidneys are failing. Every day is a struggle for her. I see her having problems remembering things, people, situations, her past and what just occurred. She can not concentrate on what she is currently doing for example watching a show on tv. She gets so distracted and constantly repeats herself. Everyday is a constant struggle for her. I believe its true that we dont have a cure for Dementia but we can help slow down the process through eating well, exercising and having a great support system. While others sit alone in hospitals waiting my family and I took another approach in making sure Dementia wasnt going to over take her life. I value life because I fear death. Every day is a new day to conquer. I value honesty because it’s not just about telling the truth. It’s being real with yourself and others. I value communication because without it you can truly hear what the other person is trying to tell you. It makes one feel valued. The information being exchange is understood by both parties. Communication helps people come to an understanding. The system of logic I use is my everyday experience to guide me aswell as my upbringing. I am raised a catholic. We are taught by reading the bible and apply the teachings to our every day life. Instilling the values that was taught to be from childhood to adulthood has giving me a foundation and has helped me raise my children and be a great wife to my husband. Education is the gaining of knowledge and learning thru different methods such as observing my surrounding, researching, exploring and thru tactile. The purpose of schooling is its discipline in studious behaviour. To instill in a child the furtherance of greater knowledge. Not all education is created equal- yet the opportunity for a great education is available to everyone. The ability to a great education is the challenges faced by many- yet still attainable. The purpose of schooling is to educate individuals so that they may reach their highest potential and one day be an asset to and productive member of society. Truth is provable fact. Knowledge is gained by educating yourself. My values are measured on what I was taught to be true or reasonable. Logic is provable, it make sense to what im learning and teaching.
