It is true that technology has provided us so much comfort, but magic of creativity rarely

happens in our comfort zones. Aldous Huxley wrote  Brave New World back in 1932 where he
suggested a future in which humans sated a constant desire for distraction through technology.
Thought could be kept at bay because we would simply zap any boredom by distracting
ourselves with our devices. we’re sacrificing original thought for keeping ourselves constantly
entertained. We can find everything online somewhere, we don’t give ourselves room to
problem-solve and innovate on our own. These technological distractions has killed creativity
which is one of the most essential human traits. Technology has limited the role of human
creativity and imagination in every field from education to science and manufacturing.
Technology has made intellectual data theft and mass scale replication possible. Replicating the
Mona Lisa or Van Gogh’s sunflower is possible with a click of mouse. Before machine age
people were more creative than today. If hundred years ago, you were in need of some tools as
an example, you could not go to a store and buy something that was made on the other side of
the world. You had to find someone local who had the skill to make it or do it yourself. This kept
a strain on the inventiveness of people which we have lost, we are spoiled. We are masters in
buying or copying. The solutions for everything lay on the shelves. So people then had to be
more creative.

Creativity is characterized as the ability to perceive the world in new way to find hidden patterns
to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions.
Creativity is originality. It is to think differently. All successful people have one thing in
common that is creativity. In this modern age creativeness is far more important than knowledge.
Now, sadly emphasize on technological learning is more than letting kids to do ordinary things.
Nowadays, teenager spends larger part of his day in playing video games and watching TV and
spend few or no time in innovatory or experimental activities. Our brain doesn’t get any space to
think something new because all time it is busy in dealing with technology.
Life has become more convenient and enjoyable. Technology has made it possible for us to lead
more comfortable lives. Nowadays, most people have computers, laptops, tablets and even
smartphones. They can access any information or anything they want easily in just milliseconds.
Scientific study tells us that creativity is referred as ‘use it or lose it’ discipline. People are
spending more time in technology and spending less or no time In innovative activities.
Newsweek reported on the findings of a recent study that indicated that while intelligence scores
have steadily risen, creativity scores have been declining since 1990. The implications of this are
sweeping as they say:

“The necessity of human ingenuity is undisputed. A recent IBM poll of 1,500 CEOs identified
creativity as the No. 1 “leadership competency” of the future. Yet it’s not just about sustaining
our nation’s economic growth. All around us are matters of national and international
importance that are crying out for creative solutions…”

While they haven’t yet conclusively determined what is behind the score drop, they did have this
to say with regard to technology:
“One likely culprit is the number of hours kids now spend in front of the TV and playing video
games rather than engaging in creative activities.”
