SMLA encoder with segmented ring for large shafts

and inaccessible areas
SMLA absolute encoder is paired with MRA/262 ring: the ring is segmented into
two pieces and allows for greater simplification of installation in large diameter shafts up to
190 mm / 7.48”, especially where access for mounting is difficult.

SMLA contactless and bearingless absolute encoder +
MRA/262 segmented ring easily fit around large shafts in
inaccessible mounting areas.
SMLA encoder is paired with a ring that is expressly desi-
gned and segmented into two pieces for simplified instal-
lation in large diameter shafts up to 190 mm / 7.48”
where access for mounting or servicing is difficult.
The pieces are joined from the sides of the shaft and then
clamped together around the shaft in a very easy and quick
way.
The encoder is able to provide 15-bit resolution (32,768
cpr) over the complete circumference without any loss of
information at joints. Output circuits can be SSI or BiSS
C-mode and they both provide alarm bits. Zero setting and
counting direction input signals are provided as a standard.
Cable and M12 connector outputs complement the electri-
cal configuration.
The magnetic sensing technology allows for non-contact
and frictionless measuring principle with no components
subject to wear or fatigue. SMLA guarantees great resi-
stance to dust, humidity, oil, grease, water jets and che-
mical agents and affords excellent durability under harsh
conditions and adverse temperatures (-25°C +85°C, -13°F
+185°F) thanks to selected and encapsulated electronics
and its IP68 protection enclosure. This guarantees reliabi-
lity over time and longer operating life.
SMLA + MRA/262 is ideally suited for installation in
large shaft motors, torque motors, rotary indexing tables,
robotics, textile and wood, metal & stone working machi-
nery, packaging lines, military installations, mobile equip-
ment, cranes, especially where mounting space is confined
and hardly accessible.
