1. The two problems that Pooran Desai raises are the rarefication of unrecyclable
resources and the urbanization of life, which mean an increase in the consuming
of resources. To address those issues, we need to find more efficient ways to use
our resources.
2. She sees the future as a world where environment is respected, and where the
economy and the quality of life are better. She also thinks that tomorrow’s
buildings will be self-sustainable buildings.
3. People have an unsustainable way of living because of the high energy
consuming, the need to use a car to go shopping, for example, and the inability
for some people to recycle. So Bed zed’s role is to “make the Green choice the
easy choice.”
4. Bed zed’s idea is to not be wasteful, more than saving energy.
5. BEDZED’s development started in 1997, and it was “unusual”, as there where not
many zero-carbon footprint districts at that time, and it was the 1 st one in the UK.
But now, people understand that durable development is essential to the planet,
and the government decided to invest in it.
