As A Human Being am feeling ashamed of the

entire race. This was how I reacted after learning from a friend
about the gruesome incident of an elephant being killed after
locals allegedly fed her a pineapple stuffed with crackers in
Kerala. When the Breaking News was breaking me, I received a
link of Indian Business Times in WhatsApp, for fact checking.
IBT reached out to a Forest Service Officer, about what actually
must have happened, we got to know that farmers use pineapples
filled with crackers as a snare to catch wild boars to protect their
farms and crops, the animal may have consumed it herself
unaware of the deadly consequence, he also stated a second
possibility that someone might have fed her, as some people
consider wild animals as a threat to their property and life.
There can be many instances, but now with so much
misinformation being posted as truth, we are in an entrenched
era of Headline Stress Disorder. The rise of the Internet and
Social Media has compounded the problem of fake news,
fabricated news.
It is taking a toll on mental health so though it is not easy to
bring a wall between the virtual world and real world, we need to
pause for a moment and question what we read.
