Assalammualaikum wr wb.

So today in this video I would like to explain about historical

background of management. Such as how management has evolved in the times and how
history is interrelated. So im gonna begin with history background, ill tell some examples of
Management, then explain study Adam Smith concept and Industrial Revolution.

The first one is management examples from ancient civilizations. Many Management
scientists argue that, a long time ago, actions similar to management have been detected in
the late pre-modern era. We can see this, from the pyramids in Egypt and the Great Wall in
China. The building will not be successfully built, if there is no someone called manager,
someone who plans what to do, organizes people and raw materials, leads and directs
workers, and controls are in place to ensure that everything is done according to plan. These
two buildings have shown us that in fact, management practices have existed since time
immemorial. It is conceivable if the pyramid or great wall, without Management Science, is
impossible to build as it appears today. to build the two buildings, management functions
must be used. Like Planning, organizing workers and raw materials, directing workers to
carry out the construction, and also controlling to ensure everything planned can run well.

so now if we talk about Adam Smith, he has published his book The Wealth of Nations in
1776. given the concept of division of labor, which is also known as top specialization, so
this concept of division of labor was given to increase the productivity of workers. Division of
labor is breaking down jobs into narrow and repetitive tasks it addresses that a single man
should not be doing all of the tasks, but he should be doing the narrow and repetitive task
that is this specific job.

The next important event, which initiated the initial thinking of management, was the
industrial revolution in England. The industrial revolution is a major change in the way
humans process resources and produces goods. The industrial revolution was a
phenomenon that occurred in the 18th century when there were massive changes in
agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and technology. These changes also have
an impact on social conditions, economy and culture in the world. As a result of this incident,
managers at that time needed theories that could assist in forecasting, demand for adequacy
of raw materials, assigning tasks to subordinates, directing daily activities, etc., thus causing
Management Science to be developed by experts.
