Rests
‘The next two pieces introduce minims, and minim and semibreve rests. A minim i
worth two beals in 4/4 time, The minim rest sits on the third line, measuring from thi_
bottom of the staff upwards and represents two beats of silence, while the semibreve
rest hangs from the fourth line, representing four beats of silence. Silence in music i
just as important as sound, so make sure you count the rests carefully.
There is an optional harmony part to‘A la Mode’, which can be played by a teacher
or more advanced player,
