Quiz No. 2
Attempt all the Questions Time Allowed: 60 minutes

Q.1: Starting from rest the motorboat travels around the circular path, ρ = 50 m, at a speed v = (0.8t) m/s,
where t is in seconds. Determine the magnitudes of the boat's velocity and acceleration when it has
traveled 20 m.

Q.2: The 2-Mg car has a velocity of v1 = 1 00km/h when the driver sees an obstacle in front of the car. If it
takes 0.75 s for him to react and lock the brakes, causing the car to skid, determine the distance the car
travels before it stops. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the tires and the road is µk = 0.25.

Q.3: The 2-Mg car increases its speed uniformly from rest to 25 m/s in 30 s up the inclined road. Determine
the maximum power that must be supplied by the engine, which operates with an efficiency of ε = 0.8.
Also, find the average power supplied by the engine.
