Moist toilet paper, called wet wipes, was first introduced in the United Kingdom by Andrex in

the 1990s, and in the United States by Kimberly-Clark in 2001. It has been promoted as being a
better method of cleaning than dry toilet paper after defecation, and may be useful for women
during menstruation. It was promoted as a flushable product but it has been implicated in the
creation of fatbergs. By 2016, some municipalities had begun education campaigns advising
people not to flush used wet wipes. (Kessler, Matt)

I used to cover a city council for a paper, and I was to come back to the paper and write as soon
as the meeting ended. I would have about 200 words to write, and between 10–30 minutes to
do it. Ive been on both sides of that a lot. As an editor, you want the story to be the size you
want, and on time. Id rather have a weak story on time than a great story too late to put in the
paper. Another plus for freelancing is that it gives you some published work you can show. I
don't care how many viewers or fans your story has on Medium, or how many readers your blog
has, a publication that chose to publish your work will carry more weight with other
publications. But at the same time, you can use what you have written anywhere to show
someone examples of your work.

This is a vitally important point, and this is where journalism went rogue, forgetting to think of
the importance of local media. Online community journalism has not thus far been able to
replace the same impact as local paper journalists have had, and this is worrying. We talked
during the latter months of 2016 about not foreseeing Trump's victory, we just weren't listening,
the journalists weren't paid to get out and listen.

Barack Obama. Look, I get it. Some people heard the rhetoric in 2008 and thought he would sign
a piece of paper and instantly bring about a progressive utopia. I wasn't one of those people. I did
think he was the best choice in both the primaries and general election, while also maintaining
enough realism not to become embittered when he couldn't keep every promise. So what if he
doesn't bat 000? More people have health insurance. The wars have been drawn down. He's done
his best with the economy and, more broadly, in addressing the terrible policies of 2001–09.
