Belt Conveyors and Feeders Operation and Maintenance Manual

The following steps are required for retracting / releasing the belt. Note: two maintenance personnel are required to
simultaneously carry out this operation, one on each side of the clamp assembly.

1. Extend bottle jacks until they contact the sliding clamp beam
2. Loosen off the clamp rod nuts and remove. Discard the clamp bolts.
3. Retract the bottle jack until the sliding clamp beam rests on the structural steel support.
4. Replace all guards.

NOTE: The operator should be familiar with the bottle jack instruction sheet prior to use.

Conveyor Skirt
Conveyor skirts are provided along the sides of feed chutes on each conveyor to prevent material falling over the
sides of the conveyor belt.

The conveyor skirt assembly comprise of skirt mounting module, rubber skirts and metal (liner) plates, and
mechanical fasteners. The rubber skirts are 16mm thickness, 240mm wide, 60 Duro Shore-A are held in place by
proprietary skirt clamp system (Martin Engineering Heavy Duty quick release clamps, clamp angles with suitable
threaded rods and nuts). The metal (liner) plates are 32mm thickness, 300mm wide Nihard and affixed to the skirt
uts.
