Credit Libanais Internship Report

Ever since I started with my undergraduate studies, I have always aspired to

gain work experience in Lebanon’s banking sector. Then in July, I had the

privilege of completing my internship at one of Lebanon’s leading banks in Credit

Libanais. CL has always been a pioneer in the Lebanese financial and banking

sector. CL was also the first to introduce various Ebanking services such as POS

and ATM networks.

For five weeks, I worked six days a week from 8 am till 2 pm in CL’s

Jounieh branch. CL helped me develop various new skills by working under the

supervision of seasoned employees.

I spent my first two weeks at the tellers’ booth. There I performed various

daily operations such as cashing cheques, transferring money, forex trading and

receiving bill payments. I was introduced to EBA and Equation, which are the two
main softwares used at CL. My mentor also took me through the process of issuing

a Banker’s Cheque. I did my part at the end of the day closure by counting my

mentor’s cash register and clearing his desk. I also got to complete an online

course on Global Data Protection Regulation, which explains the new data privacy

laws set by the European Union.

After two weeks, I was transferred to the Customer Relations Office. There I

was introduced to CL’s products and their primary services. I got an overview of

all the loans and Credit/Debit card services offered by CL. I also got introduced to

the insurance services provided by CL’s subsidiary CLA (Credit Libanais

Assurance). I discussed the benefits as well as the term and conditions with a CR

agent. I also had a closer look at the way loans are processed from filing the

applications until the contract endorsement. I also ran a few errands to help my

mentor.

I want to express my gratitude towards my mentors at CL Jounieh for

allowing me to have a hands-on experience by going beyond the job description

and by providing a friendly atmosphere. Throughout my internship, I have

developed a better understanding of the Lebanese banking industry and gained new

references for my future professional career. Most importantly, I learned a sense of

professionalism and a better view of working in the professional world.
