Introduction:
Agriculture counts around 20% of the GDP of Pakistan according to most recent economic survey.
The government of Pakistan is exploring a number of options for boosting economy. In such a
scheme, named Prime Minister Poultry Scheme, government is distributing hens to different people
at zero cost to bring about a boost in agricultural sector. The adoption of this system by government
implies the importance of poultry farming and encourages private business to follow the suit.
Usability:
Mostly, people do not keep them as a pet but for obtaining meat and eggs. Its egg count and high
quantity of meat per bird make it highly susceptible to sales. Its delicious meat and big size of egg
are a big reason of costumer attraction.
Similar Models:
In the market, we have a number of precedents of success of this kind of business models. We have
examples of Australorp. This is also a high egg count bird and people have done a lot of business.
However, due to market saturation and introduction of new breeds have taken away the charm of
Australorp business model. But the people who enjoyed were pioneers in the business are still
enjoying monopoly and earning huge sums.
Opportunity:
Currently, in Sialkot market, this breed is non-existent. Given the concentration of other breeds,
there exists a gap of launching need breed in the market. Our business will be a monopoly and
resultantly initial sales would be much high. Profits can be judged by the fact that an egg of Sussex
Chicken sales at the rate of Rs 400/-. So there exist a gap in market and we can use this as
opportunity for launching our business.
Scalability:
The business as a prototype model can be started from 10 to 15 birds. Upon gaining profits from egg
sale and population growth through breeding, this business can be upscaled and a proper poultry
farm can also be launched. Moreover, we plan to use new marketing strategies and social media to
boost sales.
