Dear LGC Tenant user

Backup of hosted solutions in Lanka Government Cloud (LGC)

The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) is the apex Government
body responsible for the digital transformation of the country.

The Lanka Government Cloud (LGC) is built and operated by ICTA as the foundational hosting platform
for government institutions of Sri Lanka. Currently, ICTA is in the process of expanding the capacity of
the LGC in order to cater to the rising demand for hosting services by government institutions.
Further, the implementation of a secondary site of LGC is in progress to enable Disaster Recovery (DR)
and Backup services for improved reliability and availability.

Whilst thanking you for being a valued user of the LGC, ICTA wishes to highlight the crucial importance
of taking regular backups.

Even though backups can be obtained in multiple ways to suit your application-specific requirements,
we wish to bring to your immediate notice that this can also be carried out by your system
administrators, through the existing ‘Management Console’ of the tenant.

We strongly recommend you to follow a strict backup regime in order to secure your service and the
intended availability of your tenant.

A user guide which includes the step-by-step process and other important recommendations is
enclosed as an appendix to this letter. You may also access the LGC IaaS Operational model related
document via https://lgc.gov.lk/resources/ for more information.

For further assistance, a special service desk (24x7) will be operated by ICTA until the 15th of October,
2021.
