The vaccines received in the Philippines were one of the many outcomes of globalization.

While face shields portray the expected effects of globalization, vaccines represent the other
view of it - most people failed to acknowledge. Every aspect of vaccine development: from
corporate leadership, investment, research, and development, to production and distribution,
is reliant on globalization. It occurred from the medical field's long-established practice of
global collaboration. Moderna's researchers, for instance, relied on a genomic map of the
virus generated by Chinese researcher Yong Zhen Zhang and his team, which included
Australian Eddie Holmes, to design their vaccine in under two days. Therefore, it does not
show the mere degradation of price but a comprehensive utilization of interdependence
where any attempt by the government to stifle it would be detrimental. Although with a
limited number, the Philippines acquired multiple vaccines from various countries due to its
relationship across borders. Beijing provided one million CoronaVac vaccine doses, while
COVAX, a global program, provided 525,600 AstraZeneca vaccine doses. On March 22,
Galvez revealed that the country signed contracts with four COVID-19 vaccine producers:
Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Novavax. As vaccinations become available, more
people will be resistant to the virus - all due to globalization.
